The 36 best places to watch sunset in Daytona Beach (2024)

The AAA Four Diamond-rated The Shores Resort & Spa is a family-friendly hotel that overlooks the Atlantic Ocean, with activities such as renting a cabana and relaxing by the saltwater pool or heading to the beach to rent paddleboard or surfboard. In summer, The Shore"s Kids Program every Wednesday through Sunday from 10am-4:30pm is popular with kids.

Great seaside resort where we stayed four nights for our daughter's wedding weekend. Nice spaces to relax inside and outside, day and night. Fire pits, free s'mores, pool, etc. Our king room with balcony was spacious and comfy with plenty of room to entertain a few friends. Bathroom is nice but the shower had a tendency to flood the bathroom. Towels to soak up the water were plentiful. The best thing about this place is the staff who were ALL kind, helpful and energetic. The bell staff really hustles, and everyone from the front desk to bars to housekeeping to valet had a good and helpful attitude, which is very refreshing these days. Others in the wedding party booked a room there through a scam website so the room was not actually available or booked when they arrived. Hotel staff worked it out for them somehow on a busy spring weekend. That is above and beyond, IMO!

This was my first stay and my expectations were exceeded by far with the outstanding customer experience. You usually find pockets of exceptional staff, but everyone from the front desk to the restaurant and even valet services went out of their way. The venue is located right on the beach with beautiful views, the food was great and I would highly recommend! It was my mom's 81st birthday and they all made her feel so special. You just don't find staff that love their jobs and pass that happiness on to the customers any more! Well done!

We had initially reserved a Sunset room, but decided to ask for an oceanfront room since we were staying for a week. Diana at the front desk was one of the most polite and accommodating clerks with whom I've had the pleasure of working. She was able to find us an oceanfront room on short notice and had a generally fantastic attitude and disposition. The hotel itself is great. It is high quality with nice fixtures and amenities, though showing its age a bit.Patrons did not seem to pay attention to the "no smoking" notices. I never saw anyone smoking, but the smell lingered in the hallways outside the rooms. I also noticed several persons smoking on the balconies. Regardless, I would stay again. Great hotel and staff!

It may not boast opulent luxury, it offers a truly enjoyable experience that exceeded my expectations. The staff was exceptionally kind and helpful throughout my stay. I particularly appreciated the comfort of the beds and the spaciousness of the rooms. For fitness enthusiasts, the gym facility is more than sufficient. Dining at the hotel’s restaurant was a treat, and having a room with an ocean view provided the perfect backdrop for breathtaking sunrises. An added bonus is the direct beach access from the pool area. The ambiance is serene, ensuring minimal disturbances from other guests. My only critique would be the overly active air conditioning, which made the rooms quite chilly. Regardless, I’d highly recommend this hotel for a comfortable stay.

Starting with the good, the opportunity to see the most beautiful sunrise was priceless. The room was clean, but the bed and pillows were uncomfortable for both of us, and the bathroom vanity was particularly small. The service at the restaurant was unfortunately poor. We went for breakfast at 8:15 which was 15 minutes after the restaurant opened. We were completely ignored by the host then told, after having to ask if he could seat us or take our name, that the host was on break...already?! About 10 minutes later, I asked the same gentleman at the podium if we'd be able to sit outside. He said they were not seating outside because of the weather, which by the way was a little chilly, but beautiful, especially with the view. He also commented that they didn't have the staff to serve on the patio. By the way, the patio seating is literally an additional handful of steps away from the indoor tables. We waited for about 35 - 40 minutes while continuing to be ignored and not even have our name taken. At that point, I went to the front desk and notified them of what was taking place. The woman agreed the lack of service was unacceptable and had us seated outside immediately. We were ultimately able to enjoy a lovely breakfast with the sight and sound of the ocean. We have stayed here a few times in the past and didn't mind spending the extra money, but things have changed, and not for the better. We will not be returning.

I got stuck in an elevator and then locked out of my room. Gotta love it, right? So why 5 stars? First off, the elevator was the little one that goes up to the bridge from the self parking lot. Second, they were very quick to respond. Then when I went to let them know I was also locked out of the room, she was so kind and figured it out, fixed the cards and even credited the account for all of the trouble. I will also say that the gentleman who opened the door at the elevator said it was the first time since he had been there, which was six years. Also, while checking out, the wonderfully kind, Robyn, said that they have low turnover and the manager is working along side them and even the owner is very personable when he visits, as it is privately owned. Cool, right? We were there for a convention and there were other gatherings including a wedding at the same time. The staff did a great job of working through everything and helping ensure rooms were clean, guests felt welcomed, and more. The hotel restaurant was busier one night, but still friendly staff and the food was pretty good - restaurant fare, not just bar food. The room was great. We had space to relax. The view from the ocean front balcony was great. I was able to go outside and relax in the morning while my roommate was still asleep. The bed was comfortable. The shower is a rain shower. The closet was in the bathroom, which was different, but worked.I recommend this hotel for sure. My only note for everyone is that it is pet friendly. If you have pretty bad dog or cat allergies, you might want to find a different hotel.

We got married on the deck here, so how can I give it less than 5 stars? We only live a mile away but still chose to have the wedding here because of the great facility and staff. Nice pool area, and the building has been freshly painted. The whole family had a blast and I’m sure we will stay again on our anniversary

Property was in great shape compared to others in the area after the hurricane. The pool deck was a great place to hang out. Our terrace room had a super nice outdoor space with two lounge chairs, an L-shaped sofa, and a table for two. It overlooked the ocean. We had a king room which had a pullout sofa bed. Not a lot of drawer space and no microwave. Stairs to the beach have been rebuilt. Keep that in mind when booking other properties. A good bit of them do not have beach access since the hurricane.

Decided to book a room here after seeing that they had a balcony suite overlooking the ocean. Arrived to find our balcony only overlooked a parking lot and busy road. Tried to speak to the front manager who dismissed us after we stated $300 a night room overlooking a parking lot was a scam. We were informed they didn't have any ocean front rooms, and this is a sunset room, and it was all they had. The room was dirty, fake lashes of another in the bed. Pull out was needing replacement 10 years ago. Their complimentary beverage was a bagged drink served to us in the bag and warm. The outside sitting area was filthy and not cleaned the night prior. I've stayed in motels with nicer amenities. This place was absolutely a disappointment. Save your money and stay somewhere else. Management, if you don't step up your game, this place will not survive the lack of effort.

Stayed here this weekend( Labor Day weekend Friday- Monday) with my fiancé and we had the best weekend in a really long time. The service was great. Frankie went above and beyond. Anytime we needed something he was the first person to take care of us in a timely manor. The beach was right on the hotel. I wish there was more pool chairs. We would be at the pool by 1030am and they were all taken but I’m sure it was because it was a busy weekend. We loved the room as well it was nice and spacious - no complaints there. The main strip is about 5 min from the hotel as well. (Car needed) Just want to say thank you again for everything we will definitely be back soon!!

First time visitor to the Shores! Blown away by the hotel and importantly, the staff. Special call out to Diana at the front desk. She was at the end of her shift when we arrived and yet, was incredibly patient with the curveballs we sent her way ( I am not proud of creating complex situations myself). From people at the restaurant, the spa, the valet, I am happy to see such a spirited bunch of people working at this hotel. The location is PERFECT! The hotel is well maintained. Not opulently luxurious but very respectable. The terrace rooms are MAGICAL. Be sure to get one towards the right end of the hotel. Sunrise from your bed, won’t have to tilt your head to see it! 🙂🙂One suggestion, hope you get a few non-Tesla EV chargers soon. Will be back soon. Cheers guys!-happy customer at room 417, Oct 27-28 2023.

Nice hotel. A little on the pricey end but good location, helpful staff, and overall pleasant experience. The outside staff (bar & pool workers) were the sweetest and made sure we got the most of what we were spending. We just wish there was a room option with kitchen or more apartment like. Otherwise, great place and plan to go back.

Everything about the place was great. The service, the room, the restaurant, the view. We got there late on a Thursday during bike week and the front desk person came outside to greet us. Got our things from the car and took us to our room. Made sure to get us any additional things we might need. We stayed three nights in a terrace room and I have to say... Wow. What a massive terrace for just a little more than a regular room. Very impressed and will stay here again when returning to Daytona.

My family evacuated to the The Shores resort and spa for hurricane Ian and we had the most pleasant hotel experience. We couldn’t be more thankful to all of the staff who were so kind to me and my children during such a challenging time. I highly recommend this hotel and we can’t wait to go back! Franky, Jojo and Kim went above and beyond to make sure all the hotel guests were comfortable. The food, drinks, and view was fantastic! Very grateful!!

While our stay there was exceptional, and the balcony view from our room was amazing, the room itself, while quite large, had its issues. Found a live roach making its way across the floor the first night, at least it was the only one, and it's Florida. None the less, wife and daughter was not thrilled to see it. Bathroom door handle was completely busted with screws hanging out and all. For a $500+ a night room, you'd think they could afford a $20 repair kit.The restaurant there does not offer room service, so you'd have to order and go down to pick it up. Not the end of the world, but for the type of establishment this is, you'd think they would have that available. Restaurant closes at 9pm sharp as well, so you better not get hungry after that lol.I would also recommend packing light luggage, as they don't do any bell hop device, and finding a luggage cart is impossible there. Checking out on a Saturday with a ton of luggage is not fun, as there will be no rooms on the elevator. So, either you're making multiple trips, or you're using the stairs. If you get past that, I will say the pool area and the establishment in itself is great. Beach access is great until the tide comes in, then it's good luck and you may need to go next door to access the beach. At least next door is a kids park, so that was cool! Our overall experience there was good, and we accomplished our goal of just unplugging from life and just enjoying the moment. I do not think I'd recommend this place, or plan on coming back just because of the price vs what you get for said money. Could've gone somewhere that's half the price and got equal, or even better service.

As a Florida resident, I have been enjoying Daytona for 22 years and have stayed at numerous hotels, motels and resorts in the area. From the sand in sheets, aloof front desk employees, the non-working hot tub that is a mosquito breeding ground...just stay away!Hilton Oceanfront is cheaper, cleaner and has many more and much nicer amenities. This HOTEL is NOT a resort that would warrant the (discounted) $325 per night standard room rate that I paid to be in my best friends wedding. Unfortunately, Hurricane Ian damaged the original resort and this was the last remaining option for my friend's wedding. The wedding coordinator on staff did not pay attention to detail and I was left to iron/steam table dressings while in full makeup, hair and bridesmaid's dress.

Absolutely beautiful. Very clean and lots of amenities to enjoy. There is a private entrance to the beach through the hotel. Spa, bar, and restaurant were amazing. The food was delicious. Staff was perfect. The valet was perfect.Don't come if you're looking for a quiet get away. Too many kids! Not by any means the resorts fault! Just a heads up to any couples/solo travelers (:

Absolutely LOVE this place!! We come almost every year around the same time with my husband's company Ferguson waterworks. Between cleanliness, courtesy, customer service, and atmosphere, all of it is perfect!! Especially their breakfast!! ( I know this will sound weird, but i LOVE LOVE LOVE the smell of this place!!) Definitely family friendly! which is a big deal for me, I have more than one child (4) & hubby... can't wait to come back!! Keep up the great work guys!!

Everything was 5/5 about this resort! If I could give it a 10/5 I would! That’s how incredible the resort is! From the rooms to the staff, I have a list of good things I could say about my stay! My overall experience was amazing! From the moment I arrived the staff was unbelievably kind and welcoming! The front desk greeted us with a smile The hotel is beautiful with its ocean front views. 😍 The lobby is so cozy with its multiple places to work spaces and the dining options are perfect! The hotel has everything you need and more all in one place! I loved it!

What a wonderful hotel. I can't say enough good things about the staff first and foremost. Everyone was incredibly helpful whether it was a bartender or server, someone at the front desk, housekeeping, etc - they were all friendly and willing to find an answer even if they didn't have it. The food was delicious - definitely get the pizza or the giant hot dog. The sweet potato fries had a sprinkling of sugar on top that made them the best I've ever had. The location is perfect, you can walk right off of the beautiful patio (definitely sit by the fire pits at night) onto the beach. This is the ideal spot for a Daytona getaway.

I will just be completely transparent about our experience and let you decide the importance of the review. Please keep in mind while reading this review the cost of our stay for 4 nights was 1194.00Upon arrival, we were greeted by a very friendly employee who was helpful and welcoming. I wish I had gotten her name. Maybe you can look at the time we arrived and see who was on duty. Our first impression of our room was good. However, after a few minutes we noticed that someone’s razor had been left in the shower and there was fresh blood on the bathroom floor near the toilet. When showering, we noticed the towel rack in the shower was repaired with duct tape! Several light fixtures in the room/bathroom are rusted and in need of replacement. Beds were comfortable. We loved the balcony and the view it provided us daily during our visit. We checked in on Wednesday afternoon. By the end of the day on Thursday, our room had never been cleaned and was not cleaned at all that day. We let the front staff know and they stated that should not have happened and they would notify housekeeping. We left the property for the day on Friday and when arriving back around 3:30 the room had not been cleaned. However, several rooms on our floor including ours had the doors wedged open which appeared as if they were cleaning. However, the cleaning cart was down the hall and no one was around much less cleaning the room at the time. We were very uncomfortable that rooms with personal belongings would be left open with no one inside or in sight. Again, we notified the front desk that rooms were open and unattended. Our room did get cleaned late in the day. After leaving our room on Saturday, we came back and none of our keys to the room would unlock the door. We had 3 keys on three different people, so not sure why that happened. When we called for assistance we were told we would have to come down to the lobby. No one offered to first let us in our room before resolving the issue.During our stay we did enjoy the lobby area and quick access to the beach. The staff at the Tiki Bar was unresponsive. We checked out on Sunday.

Beautiful beachfront location. You are greeted with champagne. Valet is outstanding even taking things out to my car for me. Room was spacious. Loved my balcony. Only concern was wanting the restaurant to open earlier so it was easier to get to our first session of the day. The smore kits were a fun way to hang out at the fire pits.

Visiting the Daytona area for family vacation we wanted an oceanfront resort. Our room with the balcony overlooking the ocean was beautiful! Check in went great, Mike was very kind & helpful. The room was spacious but definitely smelled like wet dog and flared up my daughter’s allergies. Our dinner at the on-site restaurant was decent our waitress was very friendly and nice. We choose to self park loved the skywalk much quicker than having to cross a busy street! Overall it was nice but wouldn’t stay again due to being pet friendly.

If I could rate this resort more than 5 stars, I absolutely would! The staff was beyond accommodating to both my wife and I for our entire trip. The hotel itself was gorgeous and super clean, our room was PHENOMENAL, and the food and service were exceptional. We also got to enjoy the spa which I HIGHLY recommend! The spa itself is incredibly beautiful, but the massages and pedicures we got were so amazing! Kara and Michelle did a great job on my wife and my massages and Cindy did great on our nails. Will DEFINITELY be returning!

This place was perfect. I was staying for my birthday for 1 night and the were able to upgrade us to a ocean view with balcony. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating. My only complaint was that there weren't opening the tiki bar because the bartender thought it was to windy and cold. There were people at the pool and the hot tub that would have used the tiki bar. They could have at the very least, had someone going around taking drink orders. Other than that, this place was amazing and we will be back!

Luxury resort and spa. Check-in was fast and convenient. Valet service was amazing. The room was clean and beautiful🏝️ being able to sit out on the balcony and watch the sunrise every morning was spectacular. FYI- This resort spa hotel is NOT a low budget resort. I seen in a couple of reviews about people complaining about incidental charges and it’s kind of funny that people don’t realize what an incidental charge is 😂 it’s for daily resort fees and valet service and roon service👌🏽 if you don’t want to pay the extra money for spa resort with sunrise yoga, facials, massages, pedicures manicures this is not the place for you. But I will say this this is not an adult resort, but most of people that come to this resort had very well behaved children and we’re always under the supervision of their parents. I think the kids really get a kick out of the free s’mores kit that you get complementary when you check in because they have fire pits that they light up every night out by the beach it was very cozy

10/10 - I looked for 2 weeks for a mini vaca for me and my husband all over fl - we landed here at this hotel and we have 0 regrets. Staff at arrival were great- Christian especially. No issues with our room, ocean view balcony room recommended. The hotel has plenty of games / actives. Jordan was great, he was the poolside employee taking drink/ food orders. They have a complementary s’mores kit for their fire pits. Outside bar, hot tub, kids pool, regular pool. They had toys for the kids pool. Beach access which had a food truck and a rental chair/ umbrella company right in our area. Beach was perfect, no shells, no seaweed. Food was actually good - we did breakfast one morning and a dinner one day. They have a small “store” with drinks / meds, snacks. Which came in handy as we ended up needing sun screen and cough drops. We texted the front desk for any questions - also very convenient. Hotel smelled great the whole stay. Henry at the bar was also friendly. We did not want to leave.

Great property in this area. Staff are all amazing and helpful which is rare. Dog friendly, so some rooms have an " odor". Ask for a cabana room on the first floor for a real treat.Food was top quality as well. A good find.
