The 10 best extreme sports and adrenaline activities in Fernandina Beach (2024)

The Omni Amelia Island Resort offers golf courses, upscale dining, indoor & outdoor pools, a spa and salon, and more. This luxurious resort is located on the oceanfront and is stress free and perfect for a relaxing getaway.

From the time we entered the facility, we were greeted by every staff member with a big smile and welcome. The staff went out of their way to make you feel comfortable and happy at the resort. The resort itself is huge and has lots to do. It has great restaurants to choose from and the beach is very clean. The rooms were spacious and having a balcony overlooking the beach and pool was amazing. The resort is very clean. It is very family oriented and there were a lot of kid's activities. We enjoyed our time there very much and will definitely be returning!

We had a great 4-night stay at the end of April. The property is beautiful, with lush greens and lovely walking paths to shops and restaurants—easy access to all the restaurants. We loved the pool area and never had trouble finding a chair. The kiddie pool was perfect for our families. The food/ beverage service at the pool was good - thank you to Charlie for taking care of us. The room was lovely - an incredible view of the beach and pool. The staff was friendly, with lots of smiles and always greeting. Restaurants on the property are average and pricey.

Hotel grounds are beautiful, and the view from our oceanfront balcony was spectacular. Fantastic beach to walk for miles, and great pools and hot tubs. Room are clean and comfortable. The staff are welcoming and a delight to interact with at the front desk. Mark at valet parking and Emma at the beach cabanas were very helpful. Nathaniel at the Sunrise Cafe was great - attentive and friendly service. And the breakfast buffet was worth the price with a made to order omelet station, numerous tasty choices, fresh squeezed juice, and even gluten free options. We enjoyed Bob's Chophouse and Oceanside restaurants for dinner and lunch. We will definitely return!

Awesome location, rooms are a bit dated but clean. We were in the sunrise wing and the view of the sunrise and ocean in the morning was priceless. Great service, tram was available within a few minutes to go to the shops from the main hotel. We had dinner at natural slice which was a hit with the kids due to the arcade machines. They have a decent beer selection and pizza was good. Breakfast buffet at the sunrise cafe is $30/ person. The selection is large but buffet doesn’t include waffles. There are other cheaper options for breakfast. The lobby bar has live music in the evening and is a happening adult hang out. Kids used the game room a lot even though it’s small. The fitness center is also available to get a workout in. Beach is fantastic and walking trails are serene and enjoyable. Spa was nice but massage room was a bit too cold for comfort. Overall pricey but a nice place to vacation with the family.

From the moment of our arrival (interrogated by security / gate staff) to arriving in our rooms (northern wing of main building) there was very little to redeem our hopes for a pleasant stay.Plus points: the night staff in the lobby were friendly and did what they could to make up for things, but there was really just no welcome that could compensate for what is a very tired hotel in dire need of refurbishment. Our rooms (north most wing of main building) were shabby, with plumbing hanging off the wall and a shower that absolutely stank of foetid brackish water. The exterior doors only latched if you gave them a considerable helping hand, and the external elevators were not at all suitable for use in January.I appreciate that many will be here in warmer months, and that there are clearly better maintained accommodation options on site, but for us this one is a definite no.I like to hope that other rooms were better, or that we were just very unlucky, but based upon our experiences I cannot recommend this resort to anyone.

Nice place with lots of amenities. Pools are large and warm in the spring. They have fireplaces so even if cool a nice place to chill. Food at restaurant at hotel is good, but pretty expensive compared to local spots as expected. Hotel has a free trolley to take you to other place on the property (Village area) that has several other dinning spots. This is a "paradise" for kids so be prepared if "kid less'.

Overall our family of 4 enjoyed our stay at The Omni. This was our first time at this Omni and we would come back again. The service and food was good and overall the entire place was clean. Programs for kids were really fun. All the staff seemed engaged and hospitable. The pool is a great amenity. Love that they provide you with endless amounts of pool towels. The problem that I see and why we may pick another destination on our next family vacation is the reserving of the pool chairs. People would start reserving chairs at 730 in the morning. They would reserve multiple chairs by using complimentary pool towels. We witnessed one lady reserve four chairs at 8am then walked away and returned to the chairs at 1245. She only used one of the four chairs the entire day.The staff would see this all go on. With this many people, the resort needs a process for reserving chairs. There are no life guards at the pool, so being close to the pool is important and should be priority. So,if you are looking to get a seat by the pool, you better get up early!!A few

The room in the Villas was not very updated. We valid and still got a self parking fee of $20 a day added on to our bill so make sure you check your bill. The lady at the front desk was very helpful and was able to fix and credit the $100 charge for parking. We had our national Convention here the food was great the atmosphere was great and the staff was great. The only thing that could have been better would have been that the room was more updated in the Villas. When you pay almost $300 a night you expect things like an ice bucket in your room nice decor.

This hotel was beautiful. The staff was the best part, so kind and helpful. Rooms were nice, and they came with a balcony. 2 nice large pools. Restaurants on grounds, you take the shuttle less than 3 minutes ride. The steakhouse was delicious. Pools were beautiful with great pool side service. My favorite was the breakfast restaurant, Sunrise buffet, walking distance from the room the staff there were the best!! They really made it an amazing experience. Food was delicious and there were so many options, the beach view from the restaurant was beautiful.

We stayed at the Villas part of the resort. Service was excellent at check-in and the lobby bar, views from the room were fantastic. Room service for the Villas was not available due to distance from the main hotel. Pickup was available at the lobby bar, which was fine and the food was good. The villa room has a great view of the water and had a short walk to the beach. Excellent location, views, and very relaxing. We stayed after Labor Day so it was relatively off season. Will definitely be back again.

What a nice resort. A few details, I was there for work, so I did not get to experience most of the amenities. However, there were still a few highlights.First, there were some issues with the reservation. The front desk team dealt with them quickly and politely. Second, the rooms are great, all the rooms in the main buildings have views of the beach. Third, there is an aviation themed sports bar on the property. The food and huge beer selection were a huge plus.I want to go back with the fam and spend a nice weekend just hanging in their gorgeous beach.

The staff… literally everyone we interacted with was beyond lovely!Front desk staff were very personable and welcoming, asking about my trip and sharing how to navigate the property.Room service attendants were next-level friendly and kind. So warm and genuine. Food always delivered earlier than promised.Food prices seemed VERY high, especially for a resort that is so remote. $55+ for breakfast? Calm down your prices. The beach was pristine, as was the pool area. The property itself seemed dated and weathered. The rooms kinda basic… I was expecting nicer and newer features. The water temperature was HORRIBLE. Either scalding hot or cold for showers… this was really the only bad part of the stay, however made morning showers VERY unpleasant. Also the lighting in the bathroom just stopped working 2 of the days I was there, then randomly turned back on for my last night. Please fix the water and wiring issues.Overall, it was nice. I don’t think it would be my top choice but given the opportunity I would. The staff really made up for the lackluster rooms.

This is a really beautiful resort on Amelia Island. The rooms are absolutely beautiful and offer a gorgeous view of the beach and pool. The beds are super comfy and the shower pressure is AMAZING! Hands down kid and family friendly. The restaurants offer kid-friendly options while the parents can enjoy wonderful options as well. Room service food is also enjoyable. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There is a shuttle that will take you to various stops around the property and bring you back to the hotel. There is a fire pit by the pool and you can roast s’mores nightly. There are activities you can sign up for and various options you can do during your visit. There is a nature center and miniature golf for children. Highly recommend visiting this location.

The rooms have some issues. Firstly, one had a moldy shower, so we were relocated to one with a clean nice tub. Ok that can happen. But then, for even a small family of 3 there just is not enough storage. The pictures you see on travel sites are high-end rooms. So we lived out of suitcases which i dislike. That said, they made every effort to work with what they have. The heated pools are really nice, the restaurants are all good to very good. Good drinks, bar open until midnight. They do a lot of events for kids that are really nice. Lots of Easter events. The staff is really good and professional.Walk to the beach is very short and towels are provided. Speaking of, they manage to NOT run out of towels on busy days, which is something I've seen at other places.I'd come back but expect to pay quite a bit more for a room upgrade.

Privacy was great, the water shutoff for an hour facial cleanser was burning my face, used water bottles to rinse. Excellent staff, beautiful views, dated furniture and no microwave, the refrigerator was not working and had an awful odor, for a suite at $697/night and we couldn't sit on the filthy couch at all. The bedroom was comfortable and fun. No room service. The 1 and 1/2 bath was great. Will return, maybe. Should have taken a suite elsewhere on the island or Fernandina Beach with free breakfast or food options and room service, but next time.

Absolutely beautiful resort with a fantastic heated pool and relaxing fire pit. We got the suite which was really lovely. Incredible balcony with ocean and pool side view. Made it extra special to hear the waves crashing at night. Having a separate tub to soak in was really nice. We did notice some small details, normally I would not even mention but for over $700 for our room it’s hard not to bring things up. There were no paper towels or even napkins in the room. No trash bags for our trash, plus one of the lamps were broken.Overall we will be coming back.

This resort is amazing! They provide everything you need here, there’s no need to even leave the resort. Several restaurants, activities, gift shops, and coffee shops. The heated pools were great for staying here during New Years Eve and day! Staff is extremely helpful and friendly and will help you find your way around this huge resort! Beautiful ocean view from your balcony and easy access to the beach. We are definitely looking forward to stay again!

This was a great resort. I was there for a conference and got to experience staff from all areas of the property. All of the interactions were excellent. We stayed in a small suite. The extra room for the two kids was well worth it. The furniture and bed were comfortable and it overlooked the excellent pool deck and ocean. Lots of great options for food and drinks in property and nearby (shuttle service provided). I'd definitely stay here again.

We visited back in early January (I'm a little late in writing a review), and we loved our stay at the Omni! Deidra and her team were so welcoming and accommodating, and made us feel special on our anniversary weekend. The grounds are also gorgeous - you could spend a full day or two (or more!) just exploring the property. We talk about this trip all the time and would love to return to the Omni soon!

Our son got married at the Omni at Amelia Island and it was the most beautiful resort! The pools and beach are amazing and easy to get to. Every room has an ocean view. The restaurants on property are all so good and all the food and service was top notch! Miranda and her event team made our sons dreams of a wedding on the beach happen even with a looming thunderstorm on the way! Such a great place to stay and enjoy the sun and sand and have a wonderful event at the same time! I cannot say enough about the Omni Amelia Island and their ENTIRE staff!!!

This beautiful resort sits right on the Atlantic Ocean. I was so excited to wake up, take a walk on the beach. Collect some shells, watch the sandpipers and walk alongside a darling little turtle. Our room was spacious with all the amenities. Our bed was cozy. Our balcony overlooked the resort. There were some issues with service. Those matters were worked out and there was a well spoken apology. I think we can all agree many businesses are struggling with enough hired help. You cannot ask for a better location. There are nice restaurants, cafe, shopping along the property with darling shops.

Enjoyed everyday at Omni Amelia Island. Rooms were oceanfront with a beautiful view. Beautiful pool and beach areas. Great food at the sunshine bar with fast service. Loved my time there! ❤️

We will be back! The room and view were amazing. From the time we arrived until we left, the service was top-notch. From the bellhop to the servers at the restaurant, everyone was very informative and friendly. The on-site restaurants allow you to enjoy your vacation without leaving the property. There’s a shuttle available that takes you to the various locations, so you can park your car and completely unwind. The beach was very calm. It wasn’t crowded, and you had your own space for tranquility.

We had a blast. It was very quiet and serene. We met a few couples while sitting around the fire pits and had great conversation. We enjoyed everything. We utilized the shuttle service and they were very nice. We sat and talked to one of the bar tenders and she was great. The bellhop was very entertaining and told us to make sure we tald everyone that we were celebrating our anniversary! I will definitely be going back.

Such a spectacular resort. Staff was more than accommodating and willing to go above and beyond to make us comfortable. Even though this is a kid friendly space, it's quiet and not overwhelming. Plenty of activities and restaurants walkable. Beach is amazing and spotlessly clean. 10/10 would recommend and will be returning myself.

My family and I had high hopes for our vacation at Omni Island, but our experience was far from the idyllic getaway we anticipated. Initially, our spirits were lifted by Andrew, the manager, who promptly provided us with a room despite the system being down. Though we received a different room than booked and paid for a seven-day stay, intending only to stay six, we were content to overlook these minor inconveniences. Little did we know, the worst was yet to come. The room assigned to us, located in the Sand Castles section, was in dire need of renovation. Overlooking minor details, such as the absence of milk or sugar for the complimentary coffee, was manageable, but our last night was a nightmare. Around 11 PM, I noticed numerous bites on my arm and discovered our room was infested with mosquitoes. To my horror, I also found a spider in my son's pillow and insects in the bathroom. Desperate for a solution, we contacted the front desk, hoping for a swift and empathetic response.Unfortunately, our encounter with Kevin at the front desk was appalling. His response to our distress was marked by irony, rudeness, and sarcasm. Suggesting that the housekeeper spray our room with insecticide while we remained inside was not only an inadequate solution but also delivered in a manner that trivialized our discomfort. His demeanor was far from what one would expect from a hospitality professional. UNACCEPTABLE.Thankfully, our situation improved when we insisted on speaking to the manager. Allister, a bellman, stepped in to assist us with empathy and efficiency far surpassing that of the front desk staff. He facilitated our move to another room and continuously apologized for the ordeal we faced. Allister's exemplary service highlighted what true customer care should be, making it evident that he deserves a more prominent role within the hotel. Our experience at Omni Island was marred by distress, discomfort, and a profound disappointment in how certain staff members treated us. Despite the efforts of individuals like Allister, the overall lack of professionalism and empathy from others, particularly Kevin, casts a long shadow over our stay. For those seeking a family vacation where respect and genuine concern for guest welfare are prioritized, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Despite its potential, Omni Island failed to meet the basic standards of hospitality and customer care, leaving us to regret our choice for what was meant to be a memorable family getaway. We paid for a ocean view- I am attaching a picture of the view I got in the end of our vacation. Unbelievable.

The resort is very nice, nothing special by Florida standards but perfectly fine. But the staff! Amazing hospitality. We were blown away by the professionalism, genuine desire to help, friendly smiles, everything was fantastic. Well done!

Not 5 stars with respect to luxury room as compared to other resorts I've visited, but 5 stars in that we got exactly what we expected as advertised with a medium sized double queen room with a little nicer accommodations compared to similar hotels and a few examples of excellent service. Some booking details were screwed up by a travel agent; the hotel worked it out smoothly and politely. The breakfast buffet restaurant was slammed with business; the manager forced the kitchen to stay open and keep the buffet stocked over an hour from the usual closing time. The waiters at the on-site restaurants and poolside were consistently kind and good at their work. The concierge was very good recommending restaurants and activities within 20 to 30 minute drive. The pool was kind of crowded, but it was spring break, and it wasn't too crowded. The food was expensive, but on par for nice resorts when you're stuck there. The shuttle service was nice to nearby stores, bike or cart rentals, and a nice café in the Omni village. Beach was large and mostly clean in late March, too cold to have fun in the waves for my kids, but made satisfactory sand castle play. Satisfied with our time there.

There are great pros but also a couple of cons:Pros:*Beautiful location and scenery*People (locals) are absolutely wonderful, kind and full of local pride and knowledge*The food EVERYWHERE we went on the resort resort was PHENOMENAL!* Kellie at the resort bar is the best to ever do it! She gets 1000000 stars! Go see her!*Resort staff is very accommodating.*The best Urgent Care experience I've ever had. They were quick, efficient, kind and got me ready for the wedding I was in town to attend. I had Tonsillitis and it was horrible!*The drivers and the company were super kind and sweet! Expensive 10 minute drive to and from the urgent care facility but their kindness made up for it. I'll post their business card below.Cons:*Room that we had was outdated and the water smelled off. I don't know if it was just on our side (Sunrise Towers, Room 403) but it was off-putting and for the price of the room I definitely would not have thought I would have experience this. Luckily I didn't spend most of my time in the room but it was not a pleasant smell or comfortable room experience.*The food, and drinks (especially if delivered to the beach) were VERY EXPENSIVE! ONE Pina Colada( regular sized) ordered on the beach and delivered in a PLASTIC CUP turned out to be almost $32 dollars! It was $22 for the drink PLUS a beach delivery tax PLUS GRATUITY! (If I can find my receipt, I'll post it). Absolutely EXPENSIVE!!! And let's not talk about the $37 BLT I ordered from room service with a co*ke. Please know you will be spending A LOT of money here! A LOT!*** I wasn't able to post many pics because I took videos instead but trust me the scenery is absolutely gorgeous!!!! The pic of the marshes was from Walker's Landing where the wedding reception was held. It's also on the property.)

We absolutely loved our stay at this Omni! From the moment we entered and were greeted by the friendly staff to the spacious one-bedroom suite, our experience was fantastic. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the sheets were pressed and soft, providing a luxurious touch to our stay. While some of the furniture could use an update, the presence of three TVs more than made up for it. The property itself is stunning, with ocean views, beautiful trails, and cozy fireplaces that awaited us on cool mornings. I can't wait to come back!

The Villa is not part of the hotel. Do not be fooled. No housekeeping while you stay leads to sandy floors and sandy sheets. Non functional AC and limited (no) effort to fix it. Maintenance promptly came to look at it three different mornings, but immediately said that it was working as it should. It was hot. We did not sleep well a single night of our stay.

Nick Slagle — Google review

There is so much to love at the Omni, the pool, the restaurants, the beach, the restaurants, the trails, spa, restaurants, and more! I attended an industry event and wished I'd have extended my stay. The room was excellent with very comfortable beds and furniture, tastefully decorated and convenient to the pool, lobby, meeting spaces, and restaurants. We ate in every venue except the barbecue, though I had colleagues tell me that was excellent too. Every meal was better than the last, it seemed, from seafood, to tacos, to steak & even breakfast was delicious.

Wanted a quick getaway and the Omni Amelia Island was the perfect spot! We booked a nature view room but Jen at the front desk gave us a complimentary upgrade to ocean view! And she enrolled me in the Omni select program. We stayed in the Sandcastle villas. They are dated but adequate for our family. Great view and clean room with easy access to pools and beach. The shuttle was easy to use and the property is walkable. Hung out at the pool and lobby bar on Friday and was so relaxing! Be sure to check out the Sunken Forest boardwalk.

Loved staying here! The views from my room were absolutely amazing and beautiful!! I couldn't believe it - was like a piece of paradise here on earth. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. The bed and pillows were comfy. The outside spaces were great also; many places to sit and enjoy the beautiful sunshine!! I'd love to return here in the future!!
